Raiders rookie scouting report: Minicamp standout LaTroy Lewis looks to outdo underwhelming college career

    by Uplandram2 » 14 May 2017, 10:44

A four-star recruit coming out of high school, LaTroy Lewis definitely looks the part of an NFL pass-rusher (6’3”, 254) though he hasn’t performed like one. The UDFA got an invite to rookie mini-camp, where he performed well enough to earn a spot on the offseason roster.

Working in his favor is his ability to play a position some folks refer to as ‘linebacker’. Apparently the Raiders could use some help there?

    Strengths

The greatest strength in Lewis’ game is his versatility — starting as an OLB, DE and DT. In fact, his start at DT against Kentucky was one of the best games of his career: 7 tackles, 1.0 sack, 1.0 TFL and 1 FF.

He was named to the SEC Community Service Team (yes, apparently this is a real thing) due to his service as a mentor for young boys — which is inspired by his own upbringing in inner-city Akron (see video below).
