    Philadelphia Eagles Sign Victor Salako

    by Uplandram2 » Sun May 21, 2017 1:52 am

After missing out on getting drafted, former Oklahoma State tackle Victor Salako was given the chance to try out for the Philadelphia Eagles. It looks like Salako made the most of his opportunity.

On Sunday the Eagles announced they had signed Salako to a contract. He was one of 20 participants at last weekend’s rookie minicamp tryout. The Eagles made the offer after putting former Virginia Tech quarterback Jarod Evans on the waived/injured list because of a foot injury.

According to OwnersBox.com, Salako’s contract is for 3-years and worth $1.67 million.

Salako started at left tackle for two years at Oklahoma State after transferring from UAB when they shut down their football program. While a Cowboy, he earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors.

Here is what 247Sports.com’s Eagles writer Jeff Kerr had to say about Salako:

“At 6-6, 335 pounds, Salako will need to work on his balance and knee placement to succeed at the NFL level, but has good length to develop over the next three OTAs.”

I was surprised not to see Salako’s name called in the draft, but am not surprised to see him land with an NFL team. The Eagles’ line needs work, and since Philly didn’t draft an offensive lineman, Salako should have a good chance to stick with the team long-term.
