Stafford not a fan of tons of shifting and motion, so, we'll see. Maybe great, but nobody has any idea at this point.

Well at least SEAN is excited again. Bet he hasn't felt this way in an Off-Season in a while.

Agreed!
Plus if you recall the last episode of "All or Nothing: The Los Angeles Rams," set in early 2017, Sean McVay was quite enthusiastic about working with Jared Goff (despite his 0-7 rookie starting record in '16) as his QB.
They did pretty well as a head coach/quarterback tandem, hopefully the McVay/Matthew Stafford duo will be even more successful over the next 3-4 seasons...

Everyone blamed Fisher for Goff's 0-7 start, rightfully so in many ways but not in every way. Goff got the benefit of the doubt. With Case Keenum under center, we were 4-5 and probably looking at the signature 7-9 season from a Fisher led team. Goff came in and went 0-7. Not a single win but so what, we werent going anywhere and he was a rookie so lets get him the reps. I'm sure McVay thought with his knowledge, there is nothing but upside for this young QB. He's right, there was an upside but there was a limit to that upside. Now he is looking at Stafford and seeing what Stafford has done under worse management than Goff has had under Fisher and of course he's ecstatic. Because Stafford is better on a shitty ass Detroit team for years than Goff has been on a solid Rams team. I'm not talking win/ loss record. I'm talking about leadership and playing like a baller, especially with the deep ball...that's what this team needs, fuck the quiet unemotional sad eyed QB. The Rams carried Goff in every way, didn't bring nothing special to the table... Teams feed off their leadership and Stafford has the fire we need.

But you have to take into account the win loss record. If as you state the Rams carried Goff the past 4 seasons then Matt Stafford should have no problem improving on Jarred Goff’s 43 wins over that period and his 3-3 playoff record as well. In fact the measure that will determine the success of the trade will be wins and losses. Statistics are meaningless if you don’t win.armyram wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 11:40 pmCommish wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 9:33 pmAgreed!

McVay was giddy enough over Goff to endorse the disastrous extension.

Yeah, McVay got fooled once. Ya know what they say about "fool me once." Doubt he ever let's it happen again. When Sean looks back on his career, 35 years later, I'm sure he'll have a laugh, at how as a YOUNG-ASS Head Coach he foolishly and over zealously extended a "first overall pick" way too early. Never make THAT mistake again. As far as Stafford goes, this is nothing but a PROVEN entity. No faith involved.
