Per PFT: I'm getting nervous.

A surprising new name has been added to the Rams’ coaching wish list: Mike Vrabel.

Vrabel, the Texans’ linebackers coach, will interview with the Rams next week, Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports.

Vrabel is best known to football fans for his 14-year career as a linebacker for the Steelers, Patriots and Chiefs. After retiring as a player he spent three years on the coaching staff at Ohio State, and then spent the last three years on the Texans’ staff.

Some might question whether the 41-year-old Vrabel is ready to be a head coach, as he has never even been a coordinator. But the Rams are apparently interested in hearing what he has to say. That they’re willing to wait until next week to interview him suggests that they’re taking their time about finding a new head coach and won’t hire one any time soon.

Maybe since they know they have a week before interviewing Shanahan they might as well interview some "outside the box" candidates.

I wouldn't be pissed if they hired him, provided he brought in a competent OC and QB coach.

Wow, a curve ball. Agree, with a great O C, I would love this hire. BB claims that he is the smartest player he has ever coached...

He may also be considered for DC as GW is gone

Tough hard working guy. We need someone like this to come in and take names and kick ass. As we all heard least week - the players weren't being pushed nor held accountable. We need a HC who is the exact opposite of Fisher...

Judge our new coach in his third year. After all our last coach was to game strategy what Yoko Ono was to the Beatles...

I've read and heard high praise for him.

The only problem I see as a DC is that they run a 3-4..

Okay, okay, okay.... I'll stop being a dick.

That is my take on some of these interviews as well. Texans have top defense in league this season and a dominant defense every season Vrabel has been there. His mentor is Romeo C, who also came from the Patriots system. Could be an indicator Josh or Matt P is going to be a finalist for the position
