os Angeles hasn't had an NFL team since 1994, but that might change soon now that St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke has revealed plans to build an NFL stadium in the area.
Kroenke's real estate development firm, the Kroenke Group, and Stockbridge Capital Group told the Los Angeles Times of their partnership to build an 80,000-seat stadium in Inglewood, Calif. The stadium would be built on a 60-acre parcel of land, which Kroenke purchased in early 2014, that's adjacent to the Forum, the former home of the Lakers and Kings.
Stockbridge owns Hollywood Park racetrack, which is adjacent to Kroenke's land. The racetrack, which ceased operations in late 2013, would provide the space for parking Kroenke needs to make the stadium bid viable. The partnership, called the City of Champions Revitalization Project, also has plans for a 6,000-seat performance venue.
