Bigger Need - OL or DL?

Keep flipping back and forth on this and would like feedback from the forum - which is our bigger need for the trenches?

A space eating run-stopper NT for the DL?

A road-grader blocker for the OL?

I'm assuming that any needs for the secondary can be had in later rounds as I keep hearing this draft is deep in corner/safety help - so if that is true (and am willing to listen to arguments on that also), which way do we go with our first pick?

ILB in my opinion.

That being said Rams are in a position to just follow their draft board and pick the BPA.

Secondary is the biggest need if the Rams are making another run this season.

IMO, definitely OL. Need the depth... Whitworth is a bada$& but definitely getting up there in age. Need big holes for Gurley, hoping to keep the stress off his knee. But most of all, protection of Goff. We all know if he has time, he can be spot on but.... well, let’s just keep him upright!

I’ll go Defense in the 1st if either Simmons or Lawrence is there. We NEED TO STOP the RUN!!!

Go Rams 🏈🏈🏈

I'm liking the idea of adding a Lawerence, Simmons or Tillery more and more. As for need I'd say depth wise we need a olinemen more. As for a starter, I'd say dline.

OL by a mile. We have 2 unknowns for the most part starting. We have no one behind them just in case one goes down. Without strong OL play we will not win games (watch Superbowl - C and RG got killed). We can survive with what we have or draft later in 3rd round at DT.

i'm struggling with the same thing. and what if 2 equal prospects like lawrence and bradbury are BOTH still there???

unless we trade down i'd go defense for these 2 main reasons:

1. a rookie DL can play in a rotation and get his feet wet immediately even if he doesn't start. that doesn't happen on the OL so you'd have to hope a rookie OL could start. is a prospect at #31 better than 'boom and allen who both had a full year in the system already? i'm not so sure.

2. i have faith kromer can find guys later in the draft without spending a 1st round pick. grab one in the 4th or 5th and get your gnarly DL in the 1st.

GO RAMS!

If we are talking need for this season... then it's the OL depth. And there are a couple OL prospects that are about right as to where the Rams are picking. The thing is, and McVay loves OL who can competently play multiple positions, both of the Ol prospects I mention play multiple positions. Im just not sure how you pass that up..... Beyond this season, the DL, ILB, CB and FS are definite needs and that's where BPA comes into play.... Tough call man.... I take the multi position OL if I had to choose and worry about next season later.

My thinking:

If we go OL (and assuming we get it right and they are good at run blocking and at least adequate at pass protection) then maybe a rotation of Gurley/Brown/Kelly/late-draft-pick/late-FA-signing doesn't show any dropoff in production (see Gurley's knee)...

If we go DL (and assuming we get it right and the Interior/EDGE is able to stop the run as well as pressure opposing QB) then our D gets off the field more often and less pressure on Offense...

Just can't decide which need is more immediate...

there are some FA NT's that are still out there and will be cheap after the draft. i'm sure they've had discussions with a danny shelton or ndomukun suh. if they go OL they can plug a hole with a DL FA or develop a 3rd-5th round guy.

the value is at edge rusher so don't be surprised if they take jaylon ferguson or somebody like that.

Don't agree. As much as I don't like Peters he improved a lot when Talib returned and he went back to his original position. Eric is a huge upgrade over Joyner, and jhonson is a beast. We are pretty solid. We need a replacement for suh. About the linebackers clay Matthews should be a big improvement over barron.

I agree. We were exposed with the O-oline. Need some studs up front.

Rams need a big Mauling stud Guard IMO. I'm not sold on Blythe at RG. Bigger strong and and quick DT's abuse him. Draft a starting guard by the 2nd round in trade down if needed or Bradbury and let Blythe compete at center with Allen. Draft another O-lineman in later rounds.
