Holy Moly R66... so much to unwrap here w your gun's blazing post...

This is the off topic section, so it doesn't matter if it has to do w football or not. Right?

This is a large issue because it has to do with a lot of things that can come back on us. Like could Urban come to the Trojans now? If the Jags do fire him, could they come after one of our coaches, since we seem to have a thing for getting poached?

When a head coach acts like this in public and its on video, it becomes a big issue. Why? Because it goes against everything you want out of a head coach. You want a moral compass, brains to not be videotaped, grabbing some girl in pu$$y in the middle of the bar when your wife and grandkids are at home, getting wasted enough to allow any of this to happen in the first place. So, yes... its news.

What does conservatism have to do with live and let live? Especially when it looks like you're banging some college girl and not your wife. It's a bad look. It also could play into his work ethic to a point. Your team is 0-4 and your out at your bar, wasted playing hide the fingers on some college gal.

Come on. Its bad for business.

BUT, I do agree with you to a point in that it's his personal business. But when dudes act like this in public, it cuts right into their character and decision making ability. And to me, coaches need strong character to really get a team to believe in the coach.

This goes into Meyer's long history of bad decision making... who has taken the easy way out or cut corners his entire career. The way the Ohio St debacle all went down made Meyer look like an idiot. The guy just has a track record of making pi$$ poor decisions. Dont get me wrong, he's a hell of a coach. He's turned around teams everywhere he went. Just bad character though.

Lastly... and could be the biggest reason why we are discussing this....we are bored and dont really have a life. Its really that cut and dry.

Exactly.
If his character is causing him to lose the locker room, that matters.
If his (lack of) work ethic is rubbing off on the team, that matters.
If his antics are turning off fans, that matters.
If he is losing the owner's trust, that matters.
If he is doing any of this to try and get out of his contract with a settlement, that matters.
Beyond that, he has every right to be a piece of crap and we have every right to comment on it.

WOW... don't really know how to respond. kind of feel sorry for you
1. he is the face of the franchise so yes RP that is a huge problem.
2. You are getting paid millions of dollars to coach a team, lead men, preach to them about what to do and not to do and you go out and do this?? The owner expects you to lead by example
3. He is a public figure so no it is not his personal business.
4. WHAT ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH DOES THIS HAS TO DO WITH ME OR ANYONE ELSE BEING A CONSERVATIVE???
5. THIS HAS NOTHING TO BE WITH BEING A DEMOCRAT OR A REPUBLICAN
6. You obviously have never played a team sport because nobody in their right mind would say something like if if they have.

This Cancel Culture BS that you support here came from the Left, Commie, Dem scumbags is destroying every fiber of our nation, methodically.

Conservatives are not supposed to be about destroying it are they?

You accept and end up supporting the *** they've injected into the games and everyday life for that matter, that's diminishing it only because YOU WANT TO WATCH... that's the only reason you accept it all and ultimately join the herd.

Again it's supposed to be about football, it was when it was worth watching. I don't watch live TV now. Just film no volume.

I've played lots of team sports and we never worried about the kind of crap they do now.
Of course, Technology wasn't the factor that it is now.

I'm not talking so much about us discussing it here, that's why we come here, It's more about how we continue to allow non sports issues to dominate and diminish our sports.

How exactly does this cut into his decision making ability. Did he break any laws or just dictates from a power hungry, socialist run league and the SJW community they cater to?
This kind of thing with Meyer happens 10 million times a day in the real world and most still do their jobs. I'm not one to condone any of it, but I do like to mind my own business.
Yet the same standard isn't being applied to others, most notably the woman they call our VP.

I know what the NFL has grown into in this Cancel Culture/te hnological age and I don't like it.
Everybody's taking a video of everything these days and what's being done with them is destroying the country and everything we represent.

In the end it's their league and they'll do what they want
... you watch or you don't... I get it but I still say it all has nothing to do with the game

It all facets of life, character counts. Perhaps that is the entire reason we have so many issues in society today. We seem to have lost that perspective.

this has everything to do about football. this has to do with a coach who came in from day 1 and came up with the phrase " OWN IT" to every employee in the organization
has to do with a coach who on multiple occasions told the players it is their responsibility to be professionals on and off the field
it has everything to do with a coach who decided to stay behind and not fly back with the team, who was 0-4 btw, so he could spend time with his family. hmmm so grabbing a 21 yr old's ass at a bar is spending time with the family???
Perception is reality and when you are in charge of a multi billion dollar operation and you are failing, for starters, and then fail to behave like you have been preaching to everyone else, well that becomes a problem
Maybe most importantly you NEVER embarrass a Billionaire who was ridiculed for hiring you.
this has nothing to do with cancel culture and everything to do with football
There is a reason he has already lost the locker room

keep politics out of this because this doesn't even come into play

That's fine and I can agree with that. Who sets and enforces those guidelines? That's the biggest problem in my mind. It's never unbiased or consistent....

Not any different then who gets to count the vote at election time...

In terms of character, we do. It is up to each of us to set standards of personal conduct that we live by and part of that character is to expect others who are in our sphere of influence do to the same.

I'm not arguing Your points about the team rules he broke and the hypocrisy he displayed acting against his own demands. He signed off on that with his contract and what the team does with that is their business.
I don't necessarily agree that those clauses should exist but they do and not much can be done about it.

This has everything to do with social justice and cancel culture. None of this *** existed 10 years ago and the game was about the game and thriving. Didn't here anyone caring about any of this shite then... Of course the political climate brought all the BS into it and now it's diminishing in worth and I don't get it how you cant see that. We'll have to agree to disagree on it then...
I'm not watching the games anymore and I know of many more who aren't because this *** now exists.

yeah I know some of my friends won't watch the NFL either just like the NBA. listen to a lot of talk radio and they have interviewed a lot of GM's the last couple of days about Urban and not 1 said they have ever heard of the head coach not flying back with the team. would love to have heard the sales job by Urban to the GM. Wonder if Khan, owner, knew he didn't fly back.
even the TV shows this week have said take away the bar scene, which was awful, every ex player said the fact he didn't fly back with the team is excusable.
His press conference yesterday was embarrassing. the fact that he is burned out after 4 games is alarming. He won't make it thru the season.
no big deal we agree to disagree.

I don't see where this has anything to do with either social justice or cancel culture. I'm not religious, liberal or a prude. But I've seen the devastation brought onto families because one spouse or the other was selfish enough to think it okay to play around and got caught. And there are always consequences for everyone involved.
So I'm fine with him being called out for the moral aspect as well as the business aspect. He is hurting his family and that should count just as much whether he is a common worker or an elite sports figure.

All I can say is that we pretty much know what is acceptable. It isn’t that hard really. Do unto others…

You're talking about in a perfect god fearing sense and that just isn't the way the world is.

And I agree about the "most intolerant"... is that your own or from the scriptures...?

I don't see where this has anything to do with either social justice or cancel culture. I'm not religious, liberal or a prude. But I've seen the devastation brought onto families because one spouse or the other was selfish enough to think it okay to play around and got caught. And there are always consequences for everyone involved.
So I'm fine with him being called out for the moral aspect as well as the business aspect. He is hurting his family and that should count just as much whether he is a common worker or an elite sports figure.
All the politically correct BS that they have injected into everything is Social Justice, cancel culture, etc....
I'm not arguing for the guys right to be an adulterer, It's not something I would do or encourage but since he broke no laws, it's none of my business...
Good to know that we're all that morally sound that we can pass judgements on others and feel OK about it.
Has anyone in their haste to crucify the guy thought that maybe he has an issue and needs help or is that treatment only reserved for a specific portion of the population.
Right away, go for the jugular like the media encourages....

RP66,

I hear what you are saying but im not sure we are connecting on this one. Judgement will be passed when you are this stupid as Meyer was. When you're leading a billion dollar team or if you are leading anyone, at that... To go out as a public figure, get wasted and check some college girls oil in crowded bar w others around?

COME ON NOW.

Need to LEAD by example when you're at the helm. Maybe he has Clinton/Trump type issues, where he likes'm young and hot. Maybe he needs help, who knows. But its all fair game when you are this stupid and a public figure, imo. To each their own, but to go out in public like this as a married man... and w phones everywhere now... maybe we should just beat him up for being this stupid. Its like he went out missing half a chromosome. Its such a rookie move, that I honestly believe there was some intent behind this from him directly. You can't being doing this stuff in public if you are married man (or in private) let alone being a public figure and are the face of an NFL organization... It was just so dumb. This has nothing to do w the narrative or what the media is spinning.

The part that really blows my mind... is what if this girl claimed sexual harassment? Wowsers, after what he did in Ohio State in turning a blind eye in regards of harassment, and with the me too movement and so on... He's just lucky this girl didnt say much... or at least not yet. Maybe she's already been contacted by some cruddy magazine and ambulance chasing attorney... "Hi, you know how much you could win if you filed suit?!". Goodness, just a rookie move by ol Urben here. What a moron.

His life wont be getting any better either...why? Because this guy is waiting at his window (since they are neighbors in Florida).

I meant who or what gets to determines what is offensive, racist or defines good/bad character? There's never any consistent balance.
All I can say is that we pretty much know what is acceptable. It isn’t that hard really. Do unto others…
Those who take intolerance to the extreme are many times the very people who are the most intolerant.
You're talking about in a perfect god fearing sense and that just isn't the way the world is.

And I agree about the "most intolerant"... is that your own or from the scriptures...?
I am not taking anything from scriptures. It is simply my own personal belief. By the way, I don’t fear God, I fear life without God.

It's just a figure of speech no offense intended. Worship however you like. I do!

I have no problem with any of this post here DM... except that reactions to this incident are purely media driven imo...
I've made my point... I'm sick and tired of non sports related BS in my sports. I guess some have learned to live with it....
Thanks for the laugh!

Hey, lets just be thankful we have a coach that is only in the headlines for the RIGHT reasons and not the WRONG ones. No team needs this drama from their head coach.

- The poster's whole argument is that Carol Folt and Bill Clinton are pieces of crap so USC should look past Urban Meyer's character. A common rationalization in society I guess but not something I'd want my university to aspire to.

- This guy's mocked. But only because he's just that. Just a guy. If he is a 6-8 figure donor he becomes a valued advisor. One that USC (or any "higher learning" entity) sees as providing sage guidance.

- In the comments below the post someone noted that USC just settled a large sexual harassment suit. For a University with endowment in the mega billions, it's a pittance to invest in exchange for the continuing financial largess of the alumni boosters.
