All I wanted today, win or lose, was to see the Rams get into a good flow, something they really hadn’t done all season. Today far exceeded that. What a treat to actually enjoy four quarters of Rams football. Was it smarter coaching? Healthier players? Hungry young players?
—Akers seems healthy, finally, physically and mentally
—Mayfield and McVay mesh well
—Who is this Murchison guy?
—Durant is legit
—Ramsey looked like old Ramsey
—Wagner is still for real
—Higbee does not suck, and Hopkins deserves more targets
—The D was not soft most of the time; I cursed Morris maybe once
—Matt Gay needs a solid contract
Anyway, it was so nice to enjoy four quarters.
Fun to watch again

Re: Fun to watch again
And McVay’s calls made sense today. Such a pleasure to watch. Or was that just an effect of players playing better? Denver has issues, but why were the Rams so freaking good today?

They were controlling the game. Often 2nd and 4, 2nd and 5 situations. Certainly opens up the play book. Utilized the TEs and stayed away from the dreaded 3rd and 13 and then throw a WR screen for 3 yards. They were clicking and we all knew that they were not going to be stopped.

Re: Fun to watch again
What was really impressive is how this rag tag offensive line was able to open up running lanes. Hard to determine if it was the Broncos just laying down or the Rams actually playing well. I guess we will see over the last two weeks of the season.Ramsfan08ny wrote: ↑December 25th, 2022, 7:32 pm They were controlling the game. Often 2nd and 4, 2nd and 5 situations. We'll see how they play against contending opponents over the next two weeks, however right now I'm suspicious that our team's success may simply have been due to "blind squirrel syndrome."
Still, whatever the cause, this victory was a sweet 'present' on Christmas Day...

Re: Fun to watch again
It's so hard to gauge that performance as Denver are a dysfunctional mess on the verge of implosion. It seemed like the defense almost downed tools after bailing out that awful offense all year.
It was good to see our O line gel though, and what a difference does it make to have a viable running game coupled with time for your QB to make coherent decisions. It's been a while.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Mayfield. The Rams system clearly seems to suit him. Will he consider a back up role in a system that suits, or will he bolt for any starting job regardless of the circumstances? I imagine it will be the latter, and who could blame him? But he might be better served to think long term.

Re: Fun to watch again
Mayfield was 24/28. Akers got over 100 yards. It was very efficient football albeit against another team that has nothing to play for.
Very eager to see how the Rams play vs the Chargers and Seahawks, both of which still have everything on the line.

I think the "long term" factor may be why he leaves. Making 5 mil per for the next 2 years, or 18 mil per for the next 4 years makes a BIG difference on his long term plan.

Yesterday reminded me a bit of the GSOT days....
Damn, it made for a nice Christmas.

Re: Fun to watch again
No doubt fun to watch. 3 turnovers was one of the reasons starting with short fields. We caught Denver at the right time 20 of their players are on IR. Not taking anything away from the Rams but based on all our previous games this feels like an outlier.

Re: Fun to watch again
There were RAMS fans earlier this season, not on this site, that were saying how bad Akers was and Henderson was the man, blah, blah, blah...which was opposite of a couple of years ago when people were saying Henderson sucks and Akers was the man...lol Well, it turns out that Akers is pretty decent when there is an O-Line doing their job and blocking for hims. The O-Line played good against the Broncos. I was pleasantly surprised.

Re: Fun to watch again
There were times this year when Henderson was running better than Akers, behind the same o-line. Neither was good, but Henderson was the more effective player for a while. Whatever the reason, Akers seems to be back on track. Still would like to see them get a true workhorse and use Akers/Williams as rotational guys, since neither has a great record of staying healthy and Akers will be in the last year of his contract.UtahRam wrote: ↑December 28th, 2022, 10:11 am There were RAMS fans earlier this season, not on this site, that were saying how bad Akers was and Henderson was the man, blah, blah, blah...which was opposite of a couple of years ago when people were saying Henderson sucks and Akers was the man...lol Well, it turns out that Akers is pretty decent when there is an O-Line doing their job and blocking for hims. Re: Fun to watch again
Since he is in the last year of his contract (2023), the Rams will draft another RB this year. My hope it is Zack from UCLA… we need a big back.wildram01 wrote: ↑December 28th, 2022, 7:33 pmThere were times this year when Henderson was running better than Akers, behind the same o-line.
