It’s not a game. It’s your job.

Say a worker at a McDonalds has a massive heart attack and is rushed to the hospital. You think that McDonalds is shutting down for the day? No, it’s staying open like every other business does.
You are a IDIOT. Just stop you moron

You are a heartless piece of trash
I’m telling you how the real world works.

If NASCAR or Formula 1 cancelled races everytime there was a wreck with serious injury or death, there’s be races cancelled. There hasn’t been.

You think if someone on the assembly line at GM has a heart attack and is rushed to the hospital that the whole company shuts down that day? No it doesn’t.

This is stupid to cancel this game or resume it tomorrow

Bone chilling scene on MNF game. I’m emotional.

I think he might have had a cardiac myopathy that was triggered. Don’t want to use the name Hank Gathers, but reminds me of it.

Oh hell no come on seriously
If someone working at a car dealership has a heart attack, they don’t shut down the business for the day.

Or any other business.

Or a car race.

The game/match/race/business goes on
we are 2 days into 2023 and you by far are the winner of the dumbest post this decade

the hit reminds me of the deaths that kids have incurred when getting a line drive baseball right back in the chest. I didn't see a head injury.....am I wrong?

This kid might die tonight. Really, the game means nothing. It’s time for compassion.

The tackle didn’t look unusual. I thought that Higgins’ shoulder went into Hamlin’s chest but not in an unusual or extremely violent way. It was probably his heart, or maybe his lung collapsed. I read one report that he has a pulse but can’t breathe on his own. They gave intense cpr for 10-15 minutes. Very sad and scary.

This is a violent sport, and somehow this kind of thing doesn’t happen more regularly. It does happen in baseball when a line drive smashes someone in the chest. It happens in soccer too.

Hospital updates coming soon.

There’s nothing cold about it. It’s just the way businesses work.

Theres been many situations where a teacher has a heart attack. Is rushed to the hospital. The entire school doesn’t shut down. They finish the day.

There’s been situations where fans have died at games. The game doesn’t shut down for that.

There’s been times where a pitcher gets hit with a baseball, and is seriously hurt, and the game isn’t called.

There’s many times guys have been paralyzed on the field. Game has never been called.

This is a bad precedent for the NFL to set. You go on playing the game bc you are a professional and it’s a business. Maybe that’s cold hearted but that is the way the world works.

Imagine if every business shutdown for the day if an employee went to the hospital. It’s not reasonable

Probably cardiac arrest. This is new terrain, at least in our media-heavy culture. This was not one of those horrible injury situations in which there may be paralysis but the player is responsive in some way, maybe by talking or giving a thumbs up. There seemed to be real fear that he was dead or would be dead soon. This was not “business” as usual. The coaches and league did the right thing.

"That's the way the world works"?? Apparently it doesnt. You have plenty of 'what if' scenarios. Do you have proof it works that way? Do your schools open up the next day after a tragic school shooting, for example? Are students and teachers expected to tough it out because, that's the way the world works? You're obviously intentionally being a douchebag over this, I just don't understand why you would do so over such a tragic situation. Pardon me, but it's totally classless.

he got hit in the heart similar to the Little League instances with kids getting hit by a line drive in the chest which in some of those cases resulted in death. very scary moment last night

I now have less respect than before for Bayless. Did he even see the players on the sideline? They could not have played if they were told to. This will finish Skips career, and well deserved.

In 2021 Danish soccer player Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest. His team captain administered cpr right away and probably saved his life. Unlike Hamlin, Eriksen was able to move a little when being carted off after additional cpr. Here’s a medical explanation:
Incredibly, he is now wearing a special defibrillator and playing for Manchester United.

I remember when that one happened as well. who knows but maybe Hamlin had a heart defect that wasn't detected until now???

I absolutely don’t what to suggest anything medical with this kid’s situation. I’m the last person who should period. But I’m reliving my brother all over again……..

All I will say is this kid still needs a ton of prayers and is probably far from out of the woods here. We saw some of the same things/signs in my brother after his heart attack the first day or two. And we were told from the start that the brain scan in a few days will be the utmost important test but a few things need to take place, lower his body temperature to give the brain it’s best chance, bring him out of the reduced coma, etc before they could do the brain test. That test was on that Friday from a Monday heart attack. I have shared before the results of that brain scan on my brother………..

I’m scared for this kid if they did 10+ minutes of CPR on him on the field. Now I heard tonight he stopped breathing again when he arrived at hospital. I pray that brain was not severely damaged. I pray for that brain scan I assume is coming. We all should be………

More historical context—
https://time.com/6244346/chuck-hughes-d ... ar-hamlin/

An old Buff State college friend who lives in Ohio was at Monday’s game with his two sons. He was horrified and said that it was obvious that the game couldn’t be played. No issues with that among the people around him either.
