If thats truly the reason why that's weak. Thanks for wins McVay, really. But you won't be remembered as a great if you only coach when everything is all gravy.

Sounds pretty lame. But maybe he’s completely burned out and would be useless in a rebuild anyway.

Given how he has misused so many players, I don’t think he has the skills for a rebuild.

If he does step down, and that's the reason, he is WEAK and that should take care of his NFL coaching career. Typically teams don't fire coaches when everything is rosy

Thought his balls were bigger than that

Now that I took a minute ... Lets work this .. *IF* Mcv leaves, how do things play out?

HC - can't do Morris, just can't

Beyond that, does Donald retire? How about Staff? Does Kupp hang around, or request a trade or do we trade him for picks for the rebuild?

If we go full rebuild and the three above are gone, then Ramsey goes as well, which will thrill several here. Might as well let Wags choose his ending spot as well. He sure as hell didn't sign on for a rebuild.

Could end up with a lot of cap and some decent picks then.

AS for the trade, we got a SB trophy, but given all the picks would be nice to get more than 1 actual; year out of Staff.

Did McVay wreck Goff and almost Cam Akers too?

I have watched my boy Jerad Goff all season long and when he is confident he is a top 5 NFL QB. I think McVay was an “It’s on me” coach in front of the cameras but crushed players like Goff and Akers behind the scenes.

I won’t miss that about McVay if he leaves.

As great as McVay is....he's a real mystery. Like really man.

I still have buyers remorse about not getting Shanny. Not a popular opinion, I know.

I think Morris would be the guy and maybe they bring in Jay Gruden to coach the offense? Not saying I like it but it makes sense.

Well, I for one am thankful for the McVay years. I don't quite get all the animosity towards a guy that absolutely flipped the script on one of the worst franchises in the NFL (at the time) and gave us five years of fun, relevant football...plus a RING. We are a harsh group around here.

It's because he's leaving and quitting at the first sign of adversity. That's weak shit.

I ain't talking about the * Superbowl bro. I'm talking about quitting at the first sign of adversity is weak shit. I get he needs a break, but to leave and make all these decisions and not be a part of a rebuild he's responsible for is weak shit. Is what it is though. I'm not gonna lose sleep over what he does.

What I'm saying is he was talking about retiring AFTER winning the Superbowl not after the first sign of adversity....he had talks with family, friends, office, and team members and decided to stay....but he was already thinking about it.

That's fine. If he wants to take a break, take a break. I get it. I've been there before. I'm not hating the guy whatsoever bro. Everyone's making a big deal about it. None of know what he's going to do.

Like I said back in the day - I believe Goff and McVay butted heads, and McVay just refused to adjust to Goff's strengths and weaknesses. I think McVay put Goff in tough spots with bad play-calling also.

Why not just make your screen name "Hey, Look At Me!"?

Save yourself the typing.

Sounds like a butt hurt opposing team fan. Lots of those out there tired of being beaten by McVay’s teams. Clearly a troll.

Top 5 Quarterback? Exaggerate much? Goff has had a very good season, and is a solid borderline Top 10 Quarterback. No way Top 5 and that is no discredit to HIM.

When Goff has a top OL and a good running attack, he has always looked good for the most part. Mcvay had Goff surrounded by a good OL and running game and made a SB with Goff at qb.
With that said I still don't think he is the guy who can carry a offense to the SB and make the plays that Stafford did in the playoffs and SB last year to win it all.

There is a ceiling with Goff. Imo Goff is a Kurt Cousins type of qb, whom ironically was coached by Mcvay too.

Similar to Akers. Imo Akers can be a good back, but he will never be on the level of McCaffrey, which is why Mcvay wanted McCaffrey instead.

I don't see overwhelming evidence that McVay is really all that good at picking College players.

Mcvay doesn't create the menu of college players. That was Brad Holmes job.

Brad Holmes created a menu of players that he scouted, for Mcvay to pick from. It was Brad Holmes job to make sure there wasn't any bad entress on the menu.

Mcvay and Snead job is to go through the menu and say I want some of this and some of that etc.

If there were bad choices on the menu, that was Brad Holmes fault

I don't put much into it, it's more the links in the article all pointing to his departure. I think he's gone personally... too much smoke.

And I had started the thread yesterday... today I came on, and you're right... too many threads of there same thing.

We don't know about Morris as a HC. He's much older, and more experienced than he was with that mess in Tampa. Given the right staff? Who knows.

Yes. Example: Holmes laid out Creed Humphrey, Nick Bolton and Tutu Atwell. McVay chose Atwell.
