Re: Jonathan Taylor to Rams?
I really doubt it. At the time, Rams were desperate and Akers was struggling. Now it's the offseason, and Akers finished the season strong.
Imo Rams will draft someone in the later rounds.

Re: Jonathan Taylor to Rams?
he is way too much money. there are way too many other positions that need to be filled. Based on what other teams have done, Pierce/Pacheco, late round picks can be had at the RB position.UplandRam wrote: ↑January 31st, 2023, 3:27 pm Probably pure speculation….

Re: Jonathan Taylor to Rams?
Two TE sets is what helped Akers late in the season. Signing free agent Haden Hurst for 4mil could could help our running game without the high priced Taylor.

Hurst wouldn't be a bad sign but I am not in favor of bringing Taylor. He is in his final yr of his contract as well. no more capital out the door for 1 yr deals.Utah Rams Fan wrote: ↑January 31st, 2023, 10:38 pm Two TE sets is what helped Akers late in the season. Re: Jonathan Taylor to Rams?
Like others have said we need to prioritize different areas. OLB and OL were enemic. Yes there are additional areas like imo Safety and CB, but our concentration needs to be to shore up the OL not with maybes but proven upgrades. Spending 10m per season for Whit who at the time was an aging vet was absolutely the best money spent. Finding a companion to Floyd is a must. Shoring up LT, LG and OLB will go a very long way to us dominating again.
We have a very strong nucleus we just need 3-5 players via the draft and FA I feel it is obtainable.
I love Taylor ism sure most do but a great OL makes every back better. Historically backs don't last long in the NFL we experienced that with the best back in the NFL in Gurley. Most don't have careers like Emmet or Marshall that is a rarity.
Every team has holes there is no perfect team so focus on what can maximize our potential to improve and we will be fine.

Re: Jonathan Taylor to Rams?
Some worried that Taylor may have been used up after all he did in Wisconsin. He was much better as a pro than I expected. This past season may have marked the start of his decline though. There may not be much of him left, and the Rams, obviously, have more pressing needs.

Re: Jonathan Taylor to Rams?
Good post. Taylor was high mileage coming into the league. I did think he would kick ass and he has for the most part. All that said he's not what the Rams need to be focused on as you said.bigklein wrote: ↑February 1st, 2023, 7:09 pm Some worried that Taylor may have been used up after all he did in Wisconsin. Re: Jonathan Taylor to Rams?
What made San Francisco and Philadelphia so tough this season was their stout dominant line play on both sides of the ball. We need to be more like that.

Re: Jonathan Taylor to Rams?
Not the worst idea, especially if it only takes something like this years #2 and next years #5. I don't know how much to trust Akers after his first three years. Want to believe he will play a whole season like he did the last three or four games of this year, but who knows? Plus, he's a FA after 2023 and with what went down last season he may just want to move on. Trade and give Taylor a two-year, $20 million deal that replaces his current contract. Basically what he will make if he plays out 2023 and gets franchised for 2024, but it mitigates the risk he's injured in 2023 and puts more money in his pocket now. Taylor is a stud when healthy and that kind of a deal isn't one that would kill the Rams on the cap if it didn't work out. If we keep our 2nd this year, Snead probably will take a WR, TE or RB that McVay won't play for their first two years anyways. Might as well have someone who will contribute the last year or two that Stafford is here.

Re: Jonathan Taylor to Rams?
I am 100% done with the RB obsession. It's all about the OL. RB have short lives in the league. You cannot ignore the position, but I'm not making big trades or using low picks for a RB. No way.

Re: Jonathan Taylor to Rams?
Would be a stupid move IMO. At best he'd be with us for one year. No way we could afford him in 2024...
Hopefully they draft a RB in the latter rounds. We need O-Line\Edge (Center) in round 2 and an O-Line\edge rusher in round 3...

Judge our new coach in his third year. After all our last coach was to game strategy what Yoko Ono was to the Beatles...
