Ahead of Super Bowl LVII, San Francisco 49ers kicker Robbie Gould took a shot at Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
The Niners were dominated by the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game, losing 31-7 after quarterback Brock Purdy exited the game in the first quarter.
Gould not only seems to feel like the injuries ruined the 49ers' chances of winning, but he was also unimpressed with how the opposing team's quarterback played in the game.
"If you make Jalen Hurts play quarterback, you’re going to have probably a pretty solid day on defense," Gould said.
Other 49ers players have made their feelings about the game clear. Star running back Christian McCaffrey has also made comments about how the NFC title game played out.
"It’s tough to win a football game in the NFL without a quarterback, let alone the NFC championship game," McCaffrey told "PFT Live" earlier this week. "I wish they had changed the rule where you’re allowed to carry three. … I think they should change that. It’s not good for us, obviously. It’s not good for fans watching to not have a quarterback. I hope there’s something they do with that moving forward so that you can stay in the fight.

Re: Niners still whining and taking shots at Hurts
so I was listening to the radio yesterday and there was some interesting takes. For one the 49ers are bitter because they knew they had a really good chance of winning the game. Whether you agree with that or not doesn't matter. You can not critique this game because of the Purdy injury.UplandRam wrote: ↑February 12th, 2023, 8:57 am Ahead of Super Bowl LVII, San Francisco 49ers kicker Robbie Gould took a shot at Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

2nd, what I believe, is just sour grapes. Injuries happen and the Niners definitely had their fair share. They lost 3 freakin QB's to season ending injuries which is crazy if you think about it.
Bottom line get over it SF

McCaffrey is right, however. The niners were done once Purdy left, they had zero chance. Johnson was terrible. I don’t see McCaffrey’s statement as whining at all….it was fact. Gould, was being an ass and his statement was uncalled for. Hurst is better than Purdy anyway.

Robby Gould seems like a real prick. Breaks into opponent team stretches so he can warm up. Won't wait and takes his precious warm up kicks through cheerleader doing their scheduled thing. Even kicked off last year's NFCCG early while Michael Buffer was doing his paid intro to the game. You can tell he's a rude sonifabitch. Perfect kicker for that asshat team. I hope he stubs his toe bad in preseason and it hurts like keck everytime he kicks the ball...

I feel their pain.
We were done the minute Stafford went down too.
Better luck next time

Eagles were winning that game regardless they dominated the trenches, Niners are just butthurt that someone just stole their script beat the team in the trenches were more physical. Also there is no rule against a 3rd QB it just takes up a spot on active game day roster. if your team has issues protecting glass qb maybe your coaching staff should make sure you have a QB 3 active on game day

hate the niners but you can't say that. Purdy got hurt with 7 minutes left in the 1st qtr. nobody knows how this game would have turned outNcromwell21 wrote: ↑February 12th, 2023, 11:19 am Eagles were winning that game regardless they dominated the trenches, Niners are just butthurt that someone just stole their script beat the team in the trenches were more physical. Kyle Genius Shanahan doesn’t protect his QBs. Is it a coincidence his QBs are always hurt and he went through 3 of them this year? The play that got Purdy hurt on was a long developing pass play where a guy w 17 sacks went 1-1 against a backup TE. He got blown up and the QB hurt. Shocking. These guys deserved their humble pie. Bunch of cocky assholes with no hardware.

Imo why the loss falls on Kyle ShanahanSoCalRam78 wrote: ↑February 12th, 2023, 1:05 pm Kyle Genius Shanahan doesn’t protect his QBs. Kyle having a backup TE, block one of the best pass rushers in football, on a long developing pass play is a recipe for disaster. Not only caused a turnover but knocked Purdy out for the season and maybe some of next season too.

Oh Boo Hoo, "F" the Niners and all of their fans.
They got lucky for 15 or so years with Montana and Young and won a few Super Bowls to show for it.
So now they are back to normal.........cool.

Re: Niners still whining and taking shots at Hurts
Whiners whining because that’s what they do. Purdy’s injury changed the game no doubt but I still believe that the Eagles were the better team that day and for that matter all season. Eagles definitely took their foot off the gas once he went down. Hurts hardly passed the ball in the second half and all you have to do is look at what Brown and Smith did in the Super Bowl to know that the Eagles had more than they showed in the NFC championship game. Eagles did to the Niners exactly what Niners did to the rest of the league. Long time consuming drives that ran the clock out and a defensive line that dominated the Niners offense. As for Robbie Gould who gives a * about what a kicker says? He’s a clown and a loser. Niners are 28 years away from their last Championship. Their team has played 40 games in the past two seasons which takes its toll and they don’t have shit to show for it other than a participation medal for losers . FTN!
