Seems like the guy makes a lot of consequential mistakes, being a gambler prima donna type. I think there's a MYTH of a Shutdown Corner in the NFL. Hell, I see Ramsey getting beat all the time as do other supposed shutdowners. How much would our defense suffer without him? I don't know but he gives up some damaging big plays.
I'd test the trade waters: swap him for pro bowl caliber O Lineman,TE, or edge or a #1 and #2.
He's expendable.
Is Ramsey Over-rated? Trade him?

Re: Is Ramsey Over-rated? Trade him?
he is still very good but he will be traded because of the Rams financial situation right now. they have to free up a lot of money to not only get under the cap but so they can go out and sign some guys. Also getting the draft picks to rebuild this team.

Re: Is Ramsey Over-rated? Trade him?
My thoughts exactly...that soft zone the Rams play really doesn't fit what JR is one of the best at, and that's covering the guy one-on-one.
When the Rams started playing more man coverage, at the latter part of the year, JR really started to shine again.

He's still got it. It's just about the money and the holes we need to fill elsewhere. Does filling those holes and letting JR go make us a better team than one with JR?

Re: Is Ramsey Over-rated? Trade him?
He was a phenom with Staley. Morris is the culprit IMO. I hope if we keep him, Pleasant will take over the DB scheme and use more man coverage. He's still great, and his stats say so too.

Re: Is Ramsey Over-rated? Trade him?
Morris is the culprit. Btw if we trade or cut him what do we get in return and more importantly you trade players that are elite when you feel comfortable of what is still on the team at their position. I don't feel remotely good about our db corp. I didn't feel good going into our off-season with Hill and Long gone and the rest are marginal. To me last year was JR and the rest were scrubs.

Re: Is Ramsey Over-rated? Trade him?
LA sports talk was talking about this yesterday about this being a possibility if they can not find a trading partner. Again I think this shows you how desperate the Rams are to try to get under the cap.UplandRam wrote: ↑February 21st, 2023, 8:33 am Can’t see that happening

Re: Is Ramsey Over-rated? Trade him?
Rams need to make it clear they are NOT cutting him, otherwise it has the potential of undermining his trade value.ocram23 wrote: ↑February 21st, 2023, 8:38 amLA sports talk was talking about this yesterday about this being a possibility if they can not find a trading partner. undermining and more importantly JR isn't strong enough mentally to handle it. He isn't mature enough. Demoff was an idiot to openly say they are looking

Re: Is Ramsey Over-rated? Trade him?
Are we all truly surprised Dumoff opened his mouth and in doing so, hurt our team?. No, he's complete boner and I can't stand the guy.
just another empty suit thinking he is someone really important... when being in his spot, nothing public should come out. Let Snead do the talking. But Dumoff can't help himself.
But, hes Kronks boy... so, just like another year Morris as our DC, we have Dumoff there to make it a complete crap show.

Re: Is Ramsey Over-rated? Trade him?
Expendable it what way? #2 or 3 rated D player for us last year. Led the team in D turnovers. Gave up less that 40 yards a game, so if he was "getting beat all the time" as you say, then he was greased lightning on catching and stopping. On a par with Cool Papa Bell whom they liked to say could turn out the light switch and be under the covers before the room got dark fast.Safety Blitz wrote: ↑February 18th, 2023, 11:04 am Seems like the guy makes a lot of consequential mistakes, being a gambler prima donna type. There is so much gravity around this that you aren't getting a stud back. It's a recipe to get fleeced, at least to some point. In the manner of we send out Peters, we get Ramsey. Peters plays reasonably well
WE get a SB trophy. Teams are going to downplay interest, knowing the longer it goes, the more unhappy Ramsey gets, until we just have to take an offer to get him off the team.
IF we trade him, better off identifying teams we think we suck no end next season, figure out as best we can the worst of them, at least those with FRP's and do a deal that brings that pick our way, to try and get into a position for the CW sweeps next offseason. Then if we start off badly .. we can always tank our way to the finish and grab him with that pick.
Would like to *think* the Rams are considering possible means of getting in on Williams, but these are the Rams, they'll probably decide they like someone else better
