Titans release Taylor Lewan, should Rams sign former Pro Bowl left tackle?

Post by UplandRam »

The Tennessee Titans are releasing three-time Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan after he missed even more time—15 games—in 2022. Lewan missed four games in 2019, 11 games in 2020, and four games in 2021, totaling 34 missed regular season games in the last four seasons. That’s a lot of time to miss and the last thing that the Los Angeles Rams need is more injury concerns for their offensive line.

But Sean McVay also needs more talent to his offensive line and Lewan has vowed to only play again if he feels 100%. Should the Rams inquire?

That is a lot of missed time. He might be more fresh than a player who took all the snaps in those 34 games but he just seems too fragile despite his size, strength and technique. Tough call. It would have to be a prove it deal as well so if he's say he's ready , passes our physical and takes a paycut, why not. Alot of if's though.

Not a good sign that a guy says that he won't play unless he feels 100%. Are NFL players EVER 100%? Sounds like he could be a high risk waste of cap space.

I guess it depends on $$$ and health. 100% means something different to us and and NFL player, after years of playing in the NFL, no player is ever 100%.

One year prove it deal on the cheap, maybe. Depends on how cheap.

Rams need a dependable leader who can play at a high level. Rams need another Whit signing, Lewan ain't it.

With that said, it depends on the price

He has a failed ACL repair which required additional surgery and repair. With Rams injury history on OL I would look elsewhere.

Didn't know this...

"Turns out this year, I found out that there are things with my knee going on now that are a direct correlation to what happened when I got my knee done. So, I have to go and get my knee fixed, to be able to play football or to live like a normal life in general."
