Rams cant afford him. Especially with Jones, who is younger and cheaper on the roster. Jones has looked good, hopefully he fill in nicely.

Rams need to use the money on a pass rusher. Let's not forget the Rams had that money for Von.

Rams can never afford anyone, I've been hearing this for years and years, yet they manage to afford who they want and often the person they want does not do well

Wagner is really good and at 10mill he's a bargain, cut Noteboom, Allen,Higbee who are replaceable, not the best rated LBer in the NFL

Rams will plug E. Jones into Wagner spot and save 5.25 million this year. Rams will more likely use that 5.25 to get a edge, safety or OL help

The "brilliant" Demoff/Snead team strikes again. Jesu Christo, how much damage do these two incompetents have to do before they receive their walking papers???

this makes the Rams D worse no doubt but I think it demonstrates how dire the CAP situation really is with the Rams. The Ramsey trade will happen if they can find a partner and that is a big IF.
Floyd has to be gone too.

Apparently, Wagner doesn't think that the Rams will be a winner this year. Are we on the verge of a rebuild?

As much as I appreciated the play of Bobby Wagner I always thought that it would be a one year deal. Wagner did everything that they asked of him and his leadership will be missed. He played great but he’s not the same player he was in his prime and the Rams simply have significant needs elsewhere like edge and cb on defense to go along with interior offensive line. Good Luck Bobby. It’s unlikely he will be signed by any of the other NFC West teams but I’m sure there is a contending team that needs help against the run that will take a flyer on him. He’s more of a two down linebacker in his later years.

this has nothing to do with that. it has everything to do with winning. Wagner only has a couple of yrs left I don't blame him

Well there goes our elite run defense.

This move makes zero sense unless the Rams are building for the future. Which is odd with a aging Stafford, Donald and Kupp. Unless no one is off limits. Curious what the end game here is.

Still a lot of talent on the roster. It’s more of a retool than a rebuild. Rams are going to be better than the naysayers think.

retool/rebuild...what the hell is the difference. and this roster is not better than the naysayers think
Old QB
Average RB corp
average WR corp
Horrific OL
Weak TE crew
Weak DL grp
average LB's
average CB's

so where am I wrong???

Rams need to follow the chiefs model and rebuild the ol. Some thought that the chiefs wouldn't be a threat this past year after losing Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathiu and they still win the SB.

If Rams fix the OL and their star players get healthy, anything is possible. I believe in Jones so I can live with losing Wagner if it means using the money toward OL or OLB

If you recall several stories when they signed him, it pointed to how fungible those years were. This isn't a total shock.

But to save $1.5 mil on the cap, but take on $7.5 in dead money?

Pretty much the same group, minus Von and Whit that won the SB just last year. I still remember the SB season, when the rams were struggling mid to late season and many of these same issues came up and covered the message board. After that Niners loss in week 17, oh my, many didn't think the rams were good enough to win the playoff game vs the Cards.

So, there’s been rumors that Ramsey may be moved and now Wagner has been released. I wonder how AD feels about it

Well not if we keep losing talent. Say Ramsey is gone too we might have one of the worst defensive rosters in the league.

But I agree that overall we are in better shape then most think.

The comment regarding Morris has nothing to do with his services counting vs the CAP - Everyone knows this - It is about 2 actions that greatly hurt this D ( keeping Morris & losing Wagner ) Ram FO mis fires badly again and maybe Wagner has seen the light & knows Rams will not make the attempt to quickly rebound

I understand your point, but the team that won the SB didn't have Wagner, it had Reeder and the DC was Morris.

Jones replacing Wagner is something I can live with. Jones isn't as good as Wagner but he is alot better than Reeder. With Jones on tbe roster, Wagner wasn't the best use of the $$, Rams pretty much said they will try to make it work when they aquired Wagner.

Von screwed the rams when he took so long.

It’s your opinion. You’re entitled to it. I see things a little differently but that’s my opinion which I am entitled to as well.

They actually save 5 million on the cap and take on 7.5 dead cap. I’m thinking they asked him to renegotiate and he passed. He was due a 4 million dollar bonus that was coming due. Hate to see him go but tough decisions have to be made.

I'm smelling some inconsolable differences between Wagner and Morris. ie., "it's either me or him." Rams choosing him -(Morris)
