Re: Ramsey Update
I have even more thoughts against his being moved, just not sure how I'd play to it. Per PFF the #1, highest rated performer, from any and all positions, against the run last season, was none other than Jalen Ramsey at 91.8. That number targets a long standing weakness in our defense.ocram23 wrote: ↑February 21st, 2023, 9:02 am there is way too much noise right now about the eventual departure of Ramsey. LA Sports talk yesterday was even talking about the possible release of JR.
I think we all need to realize the chances of him coming back are pretty slim. With Morris coming back as the DC I think this is a good move for the Rams. Morris doesn't use him in the scheme he should be playing which is man to man.
Due to the Rams being in Cap hell I think this is going to be 1 of many moves the Rams will make to get under the cap.
Thoughts???
So we have a guy who gave up less than 40 receiving yards per game last season AND was the single BEST player in the *league* against the run, and we should give up him AND a pick, to bring 2 *2nd's* back. Now I am known to be obtuse now and again, but in what dimension of the multiverse does that seem like equal value?
My ONLY question right now regards to JR would be how the hell
do we marry and maximize those two facets, because doing so would seemingly set the D on a course change to a good bit more success

Re: Ramsey Update
So if the Rams keep Ramsey and we already know Morris will be back the only way to maximize Ramsey ability is to get a vet safety (similiar to what they had in Weddle) to wear the green dot and make on the field adjustments.GoldenRam wrote: ↑February 23rd, 2023, 10:40 amI have even more thoughts against his being moved, just not sure how I'd play to it. Staley had Fuller and Fuller wore the green dot well. He had vet smarts for a young guy, but Fuller can't stay in the field. Rams played some of their best, most aggressive defense when Weddle wore the green dot last post season. Rapp and Scott isn't it.
Poyer is a smart vet safety, who is getting up in age and might come at a discount due to his previous nagging injuries. Bills were practically undefeated in the regular season when he was healthy. I wonder how much he wants?
PFF - Poyer’s market value is expected to earn him a two-year contract worth an estimated $17 million.
Maybe the rams can sign him if they add a void year. Something like a 3 year deal for 26 million, 8 million signing bonus
2023 - 1 million salary with 2 million bonus (3 million against the cap)
2024 - 8 million salary with 2 million bonus. (10 million against the cap)
2024 - 8 million salary with 2 million bonus. (10 million against the cap)
2025 - 3 million void season/dead money (3 million dead money against cap)

Re: Ramsey Update
So, I just have one question. If Ramsey is gone, then who are our cornerbacks? Right now we don’t have any worthy of starting IMO. Is there some other plan?
And for those who thinks Morris played him wrong (and I am one fo those) maybe we should use him in man and play zone on the other side.
I know we are cap strapped, but with no shutdown corners, Donald will have a much harder time up front.
I wonder what really is going on.

Re: Ramsey Update
If rams trade Ramsey, then a team blew them away and offered a 1st. More likely the rams use that 1st and draft Ramsey replacement. CD plays opposite side.NN1Badboy wrote: ↑February 23rd, 2023, 11:53 am So, I just have one question. If Ramsey is gone, then who are our cornerbacks? Re: Ramsey Update
guys nobody is saying that JR is not good. nobody is saying he can't help this team. The main issue here is the Rams are way over the CAP, their roster sucks, and they need to rebuild thru the draft. This is not a playoff team right now. That is why JR is on the trading block. Now some of us believe the OL needs to be completely rebuilt and there are some that don't. Whichever side of the fence you are on regarding the roster probably will tell you what side of the fence you are on regarding the JR trade.

I'd agree but it's not even a rebuild. It's shooting for mediocrity.ocram23 wrote: ↑February 23rd, 2023, 12:01 pm guys nobody is saying that JR is not good. nobody is saying he can't help this team. Re: Ramsey Update
It doesn't make a lot of sense to trade him if we're not getting jack shit for him. I understand the whole cap thing, but still. We don't have any proven CB other than him and maybe troy hill, so trading him is going to create a whole other weakness in the roster. And people are smoking crack if they believe he ain't a top five CB. His skills are being underutilized in Morris dipshit scheme. Oh well. We'll see what happens. If they purposely lose for better draft position, I'm not watching. No respect for people who throw games. I'll stick with the XFL and the USFL if that happens. And I love the rams.

Re: Ramsey Update
Well there was too much smoke over the last couple of weeks for the trade talk not to be true and now it's confirmed.
I'm not sure that JR sees the irony in the fact that the coach he describes as 'fire' is the reason that he's not worth $20m a season to the Rams.
The length of time that this has been going on might suggest other teams aren't willing to offer suitable compensation for JR too?
I was in favour of trading him if the compensation was too good to turn down, but if we lose him to an average offer, I'll be even more pissed off with Morris. You don't devalue your most valuable players. Crazy.

I was under the assumption that he can't be traded until the 23 season opens on March 15. Am I mistaken?Yorkshire Ram wrote: ↑February 24th, 2023, 10:57 pm

Re: Ramsey Update
Yeah, after June 1st the dead cap for 23 go's wayyy down... trade or release. It just doest help them for the draft obviously in 23. So if they go that route.. then 24 could be an excellent draft for all of us to break down. The Rams have been rather boring since 2016 in that regard

Re: Ramsey Update
So in essence, we will be losing 2 of our top defenders, Wags and Ramsey. Ramsey should be retained and Morris let go. I’m betting Ramsey opted out after it became clear that Morris was staying.

I’ve never seen someone use God and himself so much in the same day. This dude is an idiot. Always using the Lord when he’s the childish kid making everything worse.
God has nothing to do with a team that is looking to trade ya dude. It’s just business, man up and deal with it. But you can’t JR, you just like playing constant social media games that always circles back to you thinking the entire planet revolves around you. Ugh… enough already
Honestly, I will not miss these childish games w him.

I'd be surprised if any team will give Ramsey a new deal this upcoming season, but wouldn't be surprised if Ramsey would want an new deal come 2024. It may be best for the rams to jump out ahead and move Ramsey if a team is willing yo give up an 2023 1st
