The Rams are a mess. If true and Staffords arm/elbow is degenerative. It mkes no sense to blow up the team now if Stafford only has anouther year or two.

I agree HR this team is a mess. I have been saying this for weeks now about Stafford. He isn't healthy and I am not sure if the elbow is ever going to be ok again. They have to rebuild thru the draft. It is critical they get the draft right this year.

If the arm is that bad, then I hope MS does the right thing, and make the right decision now so they can move on. With Matt retiring it could put Mayfield or White into the mix.

he isn't going to leave that much money on the table. I don't believe for a second he will retire unless the Rams pay him a butt load of money to do so. These contract is an albatross and unfortunately there isn't anything they can do about it.Ramsfan08ny wrote: ↑March 6th, 2023, 6:58 pm If the arm is that bad, then I hope MS does the right thing, and make the right decision now so they can move on. It claims its "not out of the question" most likely meaning its unlikely but possible due to health if issues worsen.
I've been on the he has anouther year or two left wagon. But it's hard to say either way.

Re: Matthew Stafford rumors: “Retirement is not out of the question”
Im not believing "rumors". I'll wait until it ACTUALLY happens.
Re: Matthew Stafford rumors: “Retirement is not out of the question”
The Rams ARE a hot mess. We can thank the aggressively stupid/shortsided team of Demoff and Snead for that.
Mark my words...until the twin Mortimer Snerds in the front office are fired, the Rams will stay a mess.

I dislike Demoff very much but the Rams did win the SB 2 yrs ago so I am going to cut them some slack. I do believe we are going to have some lean years ahead.

Re: Matthew Stafford rumors: “Retirement is not out of the question”
Agreed they are a mess right now. But were you posting that in Jan 2021?
Re: Matthew Stafford rumors: “Retirement is not out of the question”
Yes...I commented several times that sacrificing possibly years of future success for one big, short-term splurge (one SB) was, in the long run, senseless and overall counterproductive. Especially when the front office is led by two incompetents that have repeatedly demonstrated their inability to build a team capable of longer-term, multi seasonal success.
Until Demoff and Snead are gone, the Rams will remain the chronic league doormats they were before this recent spike of success, which was purchased at the cost of many future seasons of possible success.
And don't get me wrong...if I'm wrong on this no-one here will be happier than I. But don't hold your breath....the twin Mortimer Snerds of the NFL, Demoff/Snead, are still the incompetents they've always been and leopards don't change their spots.

The longer this goes on .. the more you have to wonder. He needs to make a decision
now and stick to it. If he's going to retire that changes the $$ situation, and we need to know if we have to have a starting QB on the pick up list for 2023

Re: Matthew Stafford rumors: “Retirement is not out of the question”
The only statement said by him was in 1/9/23 stating he isn’t retiring and he will be ready to go for the 23 season. Everything else stated? Not from him. So what does he have to make a decision on?
And the statement that “he could barely throw last year”. I don’t know but he seemed to throw the ball to Kupp just fine. In fact over and over again………..

Re: Matthew Stafford rumors: “Retirement is not out of the question”
Unfortunately, it is a football related injury. He could start the season on IR , come back mid season, still collect the 40+ mil and then retire at seasons end. As a Ram fan, I would prefer to see him retire now. I just don't see him retiring this season. That's a big chunk of change to pass up.
