Re: Stafford Available???
I don't know the cap ramifications. But regardless of that. I think Stafford might be viewed as damaged goods by teams. Why would the Rams trade him he wasn't?
The mistake was (in hindsight) extending a QB of his age and injury history to as long of the deal as they did. Should have kept him on shorter deals resigning as needed. Of course its all hindsight.

Re: Stafford Available???
I wonder if they actually trade him. Who they will go after? Maybe they think Wolford can be the guy. Sorry couldn't resist.

Re: Stafford Available???
He got the gift, 4-year "thank you" Contract, just as we suspected he'd get during the 2021 season IF he won the Super Bowl. No regrets. McVay had no idea his arm would be shot and wouldn't be able to throw the following offseason. I still say he's worth the contract and remains at top 10 quarterback until proven otherwise.HellRam wrote: ↑March 9th, 2023, 11:31 am I don't know the cap ramifications. But regardless of that. Re: Stafford Available???
Told you guys end of the year they might tank for the USC QB.
Have to assess this roster. It's not close, it's aging, it's banged up. Caleb Williams is available and you finally have a first rounder.

As someone else said this morning:
“He’s just guessing lol. Dudes not an insider to anything”
Lombardi uses words in his podcast this morning that state “maybe” and “could be willing I hear from a source”.
Always a non mentioned source………

Yeah I'm not a fan of that line of thinking regardless of who it is. The Superbowl was great but everything falling apart after one season is a tough pill to swallow for me.BrooklynRam74 wrote: ↑March 9th, 2023, 11:45 amHe got the gift, 4-year "thank you" Contract, just as we suspected he'd get during the 2021 season IF he won the Super Bowl. We could have payed Stafford and not signed him to a long term deal. Similar to the Brady and Lebron situations. Again, hindsight but teams can do this.

Re: Stafford Available???
Les Responds. He also said teams called the rams about Stafford not the other way around. Says Stafford, Kupp and SD are the Rams pillars. They will retool around them. Noticed they didn't mention Ramsey.

Re: Stafford Available???
Come on ‘29… you know Snead maybe made some suggestions to other teams… kicking the tires about Stafford. Of course he’s going to say this in that other teams called…
See for me, I have no issues with the Rams always looking into options NO MATTER the player. As long as it’s in our best interest and we have a better player coming in, or get solid draft pics and what’s best for us moving forward…
It’s just good business.
Issue to me is just a dead (or death) cap consequences. That is why this is such a head scratcher to me. I do believe Stafford is injured as well. But, he’s still a top 10, like Mike said

Re: Stafford Available???
Despite the rams shopping Stafford (2021 SB winning quarterback), only one guy got wind of it (Lombardi) no other in the media heard any such thing? If Stafford was getting shopped around the league, more then one person (Lombardi) would have got wind of it. I'm not buying it.
Not to mention, the cap hit alone makes him un-tradeable

Re: Stafford Available???
Yeah I'm thinking a team could trade for Stafford but it seems more unlikely the more I think about it. It also seems unlikely the Rams would move off him for little return as well.Cornell29 wrote: ↑March 9th, 2023, 12:59 pmDespite the rams shopping Stafford (2021 SB winning quarterback), only one guy got wind of it (Lombardi) no other in the media heard any such thing? Re: Stafford Available???
You're not buying what? That Snead is seeking a trade or asking around? Sure, ok... but I never said they did or not not. Im saying it's very plausible that Snead kicked the tires on it maybe checking interest... I mean why wouldn't he? It's good business. And im sure he wouldn't let Staff go for a huge return. But who cares really, it was just an observation that makes sense to me.Cornell29 wrote: ↑March 9th, 2023, 12:59 pmDespite the rams shopping Stafford (2021 SB winning quarterback), only one guy got wind of it (Lombardi) no other in the media heard any such thing? I mean, I would hope Snead is always checking things to make us better. Like I also said, it's a head scratcher to me.... mainly because of the mountain of dead cap that would hit us if we did do.
So I'll say this.. maybe we're both right?

For some reason the link is not coming available. This is what LaConfora had this morning. It was on the Rams News section as the top of our Forum page.

Well no, because even since Stafford signed his new Rams deal the salaries have gone up tremendously.. So in my mind your avenue would have cost them quite a bit more.HellRam wrote: ↑March 9th, 2023, 11:31 am I don't know the cap ramifications. But regardless of that. So while they seem to be at it, why not take calls on Kupp and Donald too??? Just doing Stafford makes no since to me unless everyone else is up for trade too.

Rams would be fools not to take calls. It doesn’t mean a particular player is going to be traded. It just means everyone is tradable… the trading price is the question.

Re: Stafford Available???
I have no issue paying Stafford more if the play and health warrants such. I'd rather pay for actual production. Then be invested in damage goods like the Gurley situation. And I'm not saying Stafford is damaged goods.CierraRam wrote: ↑March 9th, 2023, 2:48 pmWell no, because even since Stafford signed his new Rams deal the salaries have gone up tremendously..
