Apparently, McVay still doesn't get it

Post by GlendoraRam »

After reading these comments, to me it's clear he still doesn't see what the entire football nation sees.

“There was a lot of things that just weren’t good enough tonight and a lot of things that we can learn from. This is a long season and fortunately for us, we get a chance to be able to learn on a short week and be able to get an opportunity to go compete against Indianapolis this week.”

“There was a lot of self-inflicted mistakes tonight” said McVay……..

Sean you were the one not good and you are the one that needs to learn on a short week. Will you? The self- inflicted mistakes were created by you coach……..

McVay choked not going for it on 4th down with 6 minutes left. Still an absent-minded man.

One of his worst moments EVER as a coach . You are down by 10 points with 6 minutes left , 4th and 3 and you PUNT ? Doesn't need to be a genius to understand that EVEN if your D comes out and stop them in their first try , you will get the ball back with about 3 minutes left AND STILL 10 points behind . What ? you are going to score a TD plus a FG with 3 minutes left ? really ???? of course the only way you can do this is by recovering an onside kick which is nearly impossible .

4t and 3 is much more likely to happen than an onside kick . I will tell you that even if it was 4th and 10 you need to GO for it , punting the ball ENDS the game because like I said , IF your D stops them in the first possession , even then , you get the ball back with 3 minutes left and down by 10 . And that means game over .

I HAVE NO IDEA what mcvay was doing yesterday . He fucked up the entire damn game and what surprised me most is that NO ONE can tell him this ? ..... I mean , he doesn't listen to anyone ? La fleur is supposed to have some authority with this offense , he couldn't tell mcvay to run more ? he couldn't tell mcvay to NOT punt the ball because recovering an onside kick is impossible ? I wonder if at least Snead can come to him and tell him that was the wrong decision ? ANYONE !?!??!!?

When is the time for us to actually call for an upgrade at HC ? When shit like that happens , I can't help but to think about it all the time .... I know that overall he is still a good coach and got us a ring but damn .......his flaws are just intolerable at times . I would like a defensive mind coach that hires a bad ass OC and let him call the plays . That is what they did in new england and it got them 7 - FREAKING SEVEN - rings . They did have a SUPER clutch QB helping them but still ...coaching matters TOO MUCH .

Mcvay started as a TE / WR coordinator .... he has this passing passing passing mentality and he will never change , he already proved that much to us .

A lot of good posts on last night's game and again this is spot on. Down by 1 TD sure down by 10 pts ridiculous to think we have a shot.

Also down to 1 timeout(or was it 2?) with time running out and McVay proceeds like 2 scores is doable with the way the offense was playing?

If I was a reporter, I’d ask Sean this:

“Sean, Stafford was sacked 8 times tonight. You also had a couple of O Lineman go out of the game with injuries. Did you do anything differently to keep the pressure off the QB”

The use of timeouts on offense are definitely an issue. In both situations they were to avoid a delay of game penalty. McVay used to have to do that for Goff but why should he have to do it for a veteran QB like Stafford?

Last night’s play calling was atrocious. Stafford has an option to check to a run or pass depending on the defensive alignment and obviously wanted to be a gunslinger last night.

This was a winnable game that was lost because of poor game planning and execution. Stafford’s interceptions are becoming too frequent. He forces the ball into coverage and obviously wasn’t seeing the field well last night. Two interceptions in a game that you lost by 3 points. Maybe he should get the Goff treatment by McVay.

The offensive line started out just fine but instead of being able to fire out and drive block on a first and goal from the 3 yard line early in the game they are backing up in pass protection. Stafford held the ball forever only to take a sack and blow the early opportunity and only get 3 points.

As for Thomas playing LT he definitely was lost out there but why wasn’t he given any help whatsoever by a TE or a RB? Protection calls are made by the coach calling in the plays and adjusted by the QB at the line. Both McVay and Stafford shit the bed last night in that area.

Rams have an opportunity to get out to a 2-2 start in Indy which is pretty good considering they essentially have played 4 road games ( Niners the home team in SoFi). They need much better play calling by their head coach and better execution and awareness by their veteran QB.

Thomas was a 6th round draft pick for the Bears in 2022 and he already is off their team. Keep in mind they have one of the worst OL's in the NFL too. Speaks volumes

I think McVay needs to get that damn clipboard out from the front of his face and start watching the damn game once in awhile..... And start acting like a head coach instead of a fellow teammate.

Quit patting players on the back for just doing their basic job.

I wouldn't be surprised McVay cuts up his pizza into little tiny squares..... That's how he coaches sometimes.

I wonder if someone within Rams management i.e. Demoff's cronies looks at all the sites/forums like this one? I don't think it's that far fetched
