Yeah, as much as I liked VJ and thought he really had some skills - he really hasn't showed much at all.Ramsfan08ny wrote: ↑October 10th, 2023, 11:45 amWrong. We just don't pay as much attention to the other teams. No team constantly hits on all of their picks in the top 3 rounds, and all teams cut bait with those picks that don't pan out, or don't fit. You'll see even more of them moved before Oct 31.RonMac wrote: ↑October 10th, 2023, 11:33 am Sorry but you do not see the quality NFL teams doing business like this / never mind the “ blown” high draft picks but the dump of these failed picks is not the mark of sharp FO operations. There was absolutely zero value in keeping VJ around, just to keep him around.
Crazy that some truly believe that the Rams are the only team who cut ties with drafted players just before contract time.
After 3-4 years it doesn't matter where a player was drafted. The worst thing a team can do is KEEP a player around just because of the round he was drafted in.
With that all said, I think Atl is a good landing spot for him. Might get an opportunity to prove himself.
I still think some of this is on Stafford, as he tends to lock in on Kupp. Heck, even Woods was getting ignored and was unproductive at one point until he got frustrated and said something to Stafford/McVay. But whatever - unproductive is unproductive.

Trammel, who also plays special teams, passed the audition and was put on the active roster last week. Van J could not pass the audition, unfortunately. He definitely contributed to the superbowl win and should always be given credit for that, but that is in the past. In the future, Demarcus Robinson and Tyler Johnson deserve more opportunities. There’s only so much room, and future expenses need to be considered.

Re: Van Jefferson to Falcons
My biggest concern is how much overall value of the Rams team was lost when the gold chain left the locker room. It was gold correct? It wasn't some cheap plated crap you buy at Melrose flea market?

Van and a 7th for a 6th? Why no equal value back? The guy was starting just a week ago. I just don't understand why the rams do trades like this.

Re: Van Jefferson to Falcons
Can someone explain keeping VJ for depth argument? The Rams lost their best wr for 4 games, there was a load of targets to be had, and VJ did nothing but drop a huge td.

it's a valid question. if Puka or Kupp goes down then what???? Oh and yes another 2nd round pick traded for basically nothing.

Man, the people who run this team are beyond stupid. We're always getting fleeced. We could have gotten something. But that's what happens when you're soft.

"Quality teams" have missed out on picks all the time tho.RonMac wrote: ↑October 10th, 2023, 11:33 am Sorry but you do not see the quality NFL teams doing business like this / never mind the “ blown” high draft picks but the dump of these failed picks is not the mark of sharp FO operations. Re: Van Jefferson to Falcons
We seen what happened when Kupp went down. VJ did nothing. The rams needs depth that can contribute when a starter goes down. VJ couldn't.
It's sucks to lose another 2nd round pick, but the rams did get some use out of VJ. He contributed to the Rams winning the SB year, but he isnt worth resigning. Rather use that money elsewhere.

It’s a who gives a bleep move unless one or two WR’s go down with an injury………
Better than even odds one or two does…….
I’ll leave it at VJ made some big catches in 2021. For that I am appreciative of his time as a Ram…….
