I won't be posting a lot for a bit. 4 tears to the right rotator cuff, has reduced me to a one arm man for the forseeable future

All I'm taking is tylenol. Fortunately I have a fairly high pain tolerance. They'll decide on surgery next week. At 70, I doubt they bother

Uggh...

I had rotator cuff surgeries when I was 28 and it was debilitating and the non-stop pain  ..... It was worse than both my ACL and reconstruction surgeries.

Goodluck and I'll keep an eye on the place for you..... lol

Why the heck am I so confused. I guess because I am reading the boards during a meeting. Yes, I know Glendora and Upland are the same. Not sure where I went where I did with Golden. Guess I had a brain fart like you did today.

I went through the broken hip the same way, and waited 6 weeks before going in when the neuropathy started. I have a fairly high pain tolerance for pretty much all but toothaches and headaches.

As for the addictive personality, I'm fine as long as I stay out of casinos. Never met a craps table I didn't like and 12 years of keeping 4 databases for horseracing on the SoCal circuit, finally got the bug out of me. for the most part, though I have been contemplating the Breeder's Cup races this year, see if I have any of the old skills left

Golden, I think you have an addictive personality. 😂😂

12 years of 4 databases at Santa Anita? 😂 I had a friend when I lived in Del Mar who did the same at the Del Mar races. After 15 years, he told me he was right back where he started money wise. I asked him if it was all worth it… he said ‘depends…. The good seasons it sure was, and the bad seasons, I love it even more’

No .. I kept those to SA, HOL Park AND Del Mar

I had every race winner, with jockey, trainer, sire where it was at the first and second call, how far behind if not on the lead and the time it ran at each call and finish.

Another for Maiden races, with same info, another Maiden database strictly for horses making their first ever start and one for horses shipping in from other circuits

Stats in Racing Form or any other past performance data cover all circuits. So a sire who say, has a 30% win record with first time starters could mean 5% in KY, 10% in NY, 7% WA and so on. I was not interested in those numbers, only what they did in SoCal, So I kept my own info

At Del Mar one year 8 consecutive dirt mile races were won by horses from the same sire, and many paid good prices. I caught that because I was creating the info after every days races

One database I wanted to keep was the composition of each dirt track around the country. They are all dirt, clay and sand, but different %'s. More sand means late runners win a lot. more dirt favors early speed. SA and HOL most years was like glass and speed dominated. I emailed EVERY track asking what their particular mix was and got ZERO responses. I figured that info would be killer, no matter what track you played because horses shipping in from tracks with the same or very close track makeup should run pretty much the same. If you had horse coming in like that, that was 5-1 or better, they should have a good chance of winning at a price. OTOH a favorite shipping in from a track with a very different makeup could well be a false favorite to be ignored, opening up the race to higher price winners.

2 fundamental "truisms" about horse racing: YOu can beat a race, but you can't beat the races. The other .. the best way to make a million dollars in racing .... start with TWO million

Oddly enough, my best race every year was the Kentucky Derby. Before they introduced synthetic turf I found a compound pace number from the past performances that the winner achieved over 80% of the time. What made it most useful is seldom did more than 3 horses run to that coming into the race, and the majority of them paid well. Charismatic paid $61, War Emblem paid $43, Monarchos paid $27 Funnycide paid $17 iirc, and was the first NY horse to win, Invisible Ink ran 2nd one year at 70-1. I looked forward to the Derby every year. Funny thing once they started running on synthetic, it changed and the number no longer worked.

So, no, I wasn't hooked or anything ...
