I have the mindset of 2024 and beyond… I never thought we’d be a playoff team, I mean sure… I was hoping… but we need to be realistic here.
How good can you really be when you have $71 million in Dead Cap going to nowhere?.
This team was built for development and growing. We drafted a phenomenal draft class… most likely the base of our future dynasty.
McVay showed he can change. Today, we were very balanced. 140 yards on the ground right? Our OL struggled a lot, but I see some very encouraging things developing.
We also are seeing who should not be anywhere near this club next year (like our kicker and Kendrick) So, that’s a good thing too imo.
I see the core of something special. So stay positive. Keep expectations low for the winning games category and focus more on the guys Individually and watch them grow.
Trust me, it helps the heart and prevents strokes, too!

How do you explain the inconsistency? Young team? Lack of talent? Coaching? Lack of discipline (see coaching)? It just so frustrating.

I know I am going to get beat down for saying this…. But… I hope This is Morris’s last year. Yep, the defense has exceeded expectations for some… but his long history of second half collapses are now showing.
Playing Kendrick after he constantly gets burnt and commits the most atrocious penalties is enough for me. We have seen this with others of his “favorite” players.

Re: I actually like what I’m seeing
It would be nice to focus on development, but it is really frustrating. The Rams shouldn’t have looked that bad, and it always stinks when a so-so team suddenly looks great against the Rams, as if the Rams are helping build the opponent’s confidence. I had the game streaming on gostreams.tv but couldn’t watch anymore shortly after Maher’s second missed field goal. His misses were the 7-point difference, but it was really just the whole game: the Rams had a very odd pulse in every facet. Just no real rhythm. Although the run game had some potential. And Puka is great. Things were just off. When was the last time Kupp missed his first two? Then Pitt was waiting for that same play to open the 2nd half. The officiating and the terrible towels didn’t help. I should have kept watching because so much of this year is about next year, but the vibe was so off from the start, I couldn’t take it anymore.

Re: I actually like what I’m seeing
We should have beaten this crummie Steelers team. Three catchable dropped passes, the missed FGs, and the porous Defense is just hard to stomach.
Puka and Hendo nice job today! The team is not playing with inspiration.

Re: I actually like what I’m seeing
I tend to agree, but I want to see the rest of these guys at this point. Get Evans in there for 15 a game, let's see Mathis, and Van Valkenberg and Hampton. Put Tomlinson in the slot, move Durant outside and Kendricks to Bermuda. Let's see Shelley, get Hoecht inside next to Jones, bring the kid from Detroit up, slap his ass on the line and let's see what he got. We need to see who's got it before the next draft. We have a full slate of picks, but let's not waste them on positions we may not need. First and foremost we need to be looking for a QBDelMar wrote: ↑October 22nd, 2023, 5:29 pm I have the mindset of 2024 and beyond… I never thought we’d be a playoff team, I mean sure… I was hoping… but we need to be realistic here.

Re: I actually like what I’m seeing
Young team, there is some level of talent we are not reaching in the case of some players, while others like Young and Turner, Puka, are showing they belong, just need the game to slow down some more. Avila is good now. better with more coaching up, someone to show him the tricks, would love to see Whit work with him this offseason.
Once you're on the field, it's what you've been taught and the scheme you're in, so coaching to that extent. There are always going to be guys that are not a scheme fit

Re: I actually like what I’m seeing
Puka’s emergence as a star.
Avila being a reliable above average lineman.
Tutu becoming semi useful.
There’s been some good things happening so far for sure. How it plays into next year who knows? Adding a franchise LT in free agency, and a shutdown corner would be nice

Re: I actually like what I’m seeing
I agree. We need a YOUNG aggressive coach. With a fresh approach, might even get some more out of AD with that. A guy like Staley. I would like to see what Pleasant could do, but I doubt someone gives him that bumpGlendoraRam wrote: ↑October 22nd, 2023, 5:38 pm I know I am going to get beat down for saying this…. Re: I actually like what I’m seeing
Oh I agree… it’s hard to watch! But I’m choosing to focus on our team and who we want to keep or cut for next season. I also think this is Morris’s last season here. I’m also seeing Stafford maybe playing his last season. I think he’s getting close.bigklein wrote: ↑October 22nd, 2023, 5:52 pm It would be nice to focus on development, but it is really frustrating. I mean shoot, McVay and Morris could both be gone next season.
My point is let’s look at the positives and also the negatives and build on this for next season.
I guess I just am really excited for this off season… actually, I’ve never looked forward to another off season like we have coming up… a first rounder in 29 years it seems, 12-15 draft picks… $75+ cap space w not even $1M in dead cap…
Future it bright guys…

Re: I actually like what I’m seeing
Yes, there is a bright future, and the needs to address are becoming more glaring. As Goldenram said elsewhere, let’s see what more young guys can do. More auditions.
If McVay leaves, and I don’t think he will, I wouldn’t be surprised if Morris becomes the HC. That would kill many in here. But I think that McVay, Stafford, and Donald will go one more year together. Morris might HC elsewhere; if not, he’ll take over as Rams HC in ‘25.
At least the Rams have clear, inexpensive keepers for next year.
