He is a FA. It’s just his salary for 8 games which won’t be much.

Well it’s about time. He’s not the same QB he was when he was drafted but he’s got to be better than Wynn, Rypien and Wolford.

Trying to pull a Mayfield.

Rams picked Mayfield off the scrap pile for nothing and he played decent enough to get a starting gig with Tampa. Wentz who is basically out of the NFL may parlay his stint into a backup roll next year. I'm sure he'll get some starts.

Brett Rypien isn't an NFL QB, he's a scout team QB.

So I get that he was a FA. So they just negotiate a salary? If he's currently unemployed, what will that salary look like?

Rams continue to show "tanking" or draft position means nothing to them.

If they wanted a viable back up. Why wait till now though?

Im with you on this. I think this signing was simply all about selling some more tickets and getting a veteran to manage maybe a couple more wins for us. Nothing more.

This acquisition was just trying to save face imo.

Crazy thing is what if Carson comes in and lights things up and we start winning a lot.

Lol. I’m not against this but why did they wait until now? They only thought of this after Wolfie said no? Sheez.

I think it's a save face signing. I dont expect Carson to be much, but we never know. Maybe Carson was asking for too much before, now hes been humbled and is willing accept a 'show me what you got 'contract.

Rypien was so bad that he must have performed worse then Mcvay even thought. Mcvay screwed up and is trying to fix it with Wentz.

Wentz > Rypien, that's for sure.

That green bay game was too embarrassing. One thing to lose but Rypien was a disaster.

Rypien playing that bad stunts the growth of the young offensive players on tbe team. It's important that the guys in 2023 offense gets reps in a functional offense.

Mcvay more likely figured that Rypien, who knows the playbook and practiced with the team all year would be better option then Wentz who hasnt played football all year. Not even in a camp.

Having the bye week helps along with Stafford returning after the bye. Plenty of time for Wentz to learn the playbook.

More likely bc Wentz hasn't played all year including preseason and spring camp. Rams now have a bye week to get Wentz up to speed and ready to go.

Does this thread need to be moved to the ass hat forum?

Getting Wentz during the bye is a good move. He may do some dumb things, but at least he won’t be a boring stiff back there. And if he spent time working out with Gruden, then maybe he and McVay will click.

I think the board is cleaned up a bit... lots more honest healthy debates than hard core criticizing... no? At least I have seen some positive changes in here the past week or so.

Anyone remember how torn Rams fans were on JG VS Wentz when we pick. This is pretty funny full circle. I am man enough to admit I wanted Wentz over JG. 🤦🏾‍♂️

From that same draft, Ramsey (pick 5) and Floyd (pick 9)

This is a good signing for all parties. Wentz may have the opportunity to revive his career like Mayfield did. Stafford injuries have been increasing. Wentz is more mobile, he has experience and a real NFL arm. If it doesn’t pan out, he is as FA at the end of 2023.
I don’t see any downside.

That’s because lots of the bandwagon clowns that showed up after the Super Bowl win have finally moved on to other teams boards. Thank goodness. Now they’re diehard Seahawks and Niners Faithful.

Losing also has a way of culling the forum as well. When the Rams lose a game like they did on Sunday there’s just not anything to talk about. The game was over at 7-0. Green Bay could have pulled their defense off the field for 3 downs and a Brett Rypien led offense would have had the settle for a FG. Which they would likely shank wide right. Snead should have known better when he signed HaveaRISK.
