2024 NFL Mock Draft: Los Angeles Rams Select Matthew Stafford QB Successor in Round 1?
While Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford's statistics -- eight touchdown passes to seven interceptions in eight games -- may not jump off the page, his arm has looked rejuvenated a year after an elbow problem was among the many ailments he dealt with.
Nonetheless, a new NFL Mock Draft has the Rams selecting his successor next April.
Pro Football Focus recently released their latest 2024 NFL Mock Draft, and they have general manager Les Snead, coach Sean McVay, and the Rams taking Oregon quarterback Bo Nix with the No. 6 overall pick.
"Nix has been one of the most improved and most efficient passers in the country over the past two years," PFF wrote. "He comes with dual-threat rushing ability and an NFL-level arm. He’d cook in a McVay offense, especially with Cooper Kupp (78.6 PFF grade), Puka Nacua (84.6), and Tutu Atwell (69.0) to throw to."
A fifth-year senior who began his collegiate career at Auburn, Nix is putting together a monster season in his second campaign at Oregon. In nine games for the Ducks, Nix has tossed 25 touchdowns to two interceptions, while racking up 2,723 passing yards.
He's also added five touchdown scampers, a year after rushing for 510 yards and 14 touchdowns. There's some divide on who the third quarterback off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft will be after USC's Caleb Williams and North Carolina's Drake Maye, but Nix has certainly entered that conversation.

"Nix has been one of the most improved and most efficient passers in the country" is this a backhanded compliment? 1st round pick to most improved?
Re: 2024 NFL Mock Draft: Los Angeles Rams Select Matthew Stafford QB Successor in Round 1?
I see us with a top 5 pick. The brass will trade down to get more picks.
Hopefully, we use a 1st on left tackle and our 2nd on the best center.

well I just listened to Jordan Palmer on Cowherd and he absolutely loves Nix so maybe I change my tune on him. I think if he is your guy then due to his age and experience he plays year 1 which means you force Stafford out. Palmer thinks Nix is the 3rd QB off the board i.e. top 5 pickGlendoraRam wrote: ↑November 10th, 2023, 10:28 amNot arguing with you, but what’s your take on Nix?

Joel Klatt, which I respect, loves McCarthy from Michigan. I think we could get him mid to late 1st round. can't wait for the draft

At least the 3rd best so far this season from what I've seen. I believe Palmer says Nix runs a legit 4.5, which Oregon isn't really letting him display so far this season.ocram23 wrote: ↑November 10th, 2023, 11:01 amwell I just listened to Jordan Palmer on Cowherd and he absolutely loves Nix so maybe I change my tune on him. My only knock on Nix this year is that he has overthrown his deep receivers at times (better than under at least). He's been close to flawless at Oregon = nearly 80% completion rate, high TD's, extremely low INT's.

For the Love of God, Rams ......PLEASE take Bo Nix with your first pick, if he is there!!!
As I said before; if Rams do not try & get best QB available with their first pick (especially if its a top 6 pick) when will they ever have another chance? Unless Carson W. turns out to be a good 3 -5 year replacement for MS, should he retire in 2024.

Trade down, get another second, trade the second for Justin Fields, draft the best available edge in round 1 and then center in the top of round 2,
Alaric will get better, he’s only let up one sack all year

Local kid, went to HS is San Bernardino. Thin frame, can make all the NFL throws, quick release.
Needs to bulk up a bit. Currently rated as the 6th best QB prospect.
I see him as a late round 1st.
The question is, how many teams are QB needy that will draft before the Rams?
Cardinals probably will draft a QB
Bears probably will move on from Fields
Green Bay??
Patriots will take a QB
So if we sitting at 6th or 7th position in the draft, is he worth that high of pick?

New York Giants
New England
Denver
Arizona - impossible situation with Murray contract
Those are the teams I could see in the mix for a QB, and who will be competing with the Rams for draft position. I'm not at all again at trading for Fields, like headslap previously suggested. Although, I think he may be obtained for lower than a 2nd.

If they are drafting for the future, like a few years out, I could see them picking top 5 QB.

Re: 2024 NFL Mock Draft: Los Angeles Rams Select Matthew Stafford QB Successor in Round 1?
if you go look at the NFL right now half of the teams need a QB. this is a QB laden draft.
Bears
Pats......are 2 teams that are going to be looking, most likely, at a new QB next year. that is why I have been talking about us trading for Fields. I need to look at his contract to see how much this would cost but bottom line is if we have a top 7 pick we maybe looking at another team moving up for our pick to they can select a QB. Why not get another #1 for 2025???

As much as I like most would rather have a LT we will not get a better opportunity than next season. Fact Stafford says 1 - 2 years I just don't want to be in no man's land with marginal WBs especially with all the draft picks and money next year we will be much improved. Yet I believe every draft class 0- 2 QBs emerge to gave a real NFL career is Nice that guy is Penix, is McCarthy, is Mayes, is Williams is Sanders? Those are 6 names and I could go deeper like Evers at Texas the problem who is the next CJ Stroud Pat Mahomes, Josh Allen historically I am right but fans get excited when the #1/#2 picks are gone and they will be gone unless we have a collapse and Carolina wins a bunch of games not to mention NE, Tenn, AZ our fate in terms of a high draft pick eleill most likely be sealed against AZ. I contend there is only 1 sure thing and who knows if Caleb Williams is truly a sure thing but to my eye test he is Mahomes.RAMS 1974 wrote: ↑November 11th, 2023, 10:48 amFor the Love of God, Rams ......PLEASE take Bo Nix with your first pick, if he is there!!!

We must not reach for the 3rd or 4th QB look at NE he was the 5th QB at #15 in his draft class and was benched on the last drive of his game for Bailey Zappe not a vote of confidence.

For what it's worth, Mahomes was ranked as the #5 QB by many critics in the 17 draft.Guest wrote: ↑November 13th, 2023, 2:24 pmAs much as I like most would rather have a LT we will not get a better opportunity than next season. He hasn’t been the same since the Super Bowl imo… but, you could also make the argument he hasn’t been the same since week 1 against the Hawks.SoCalRam78 wrote: ↑November 13th, 2023, 7:24 am Stafford hasn’t been the same since he hurt his hip week 4.

Nix: not sold on him....having a great year but does his game make it to the NFL?
Pennix: he is a bigger version of Tua but he has 2 ACL tears. Is it worth that high of a pick?
Michigan QB: I do like him...will he make it to the 2nd round?
Sanders: I don't think he is going to come out.
Caleb and Drake: we don't have a chance unless we mortgage everything to move up so no thanks.
everyone else we can talk about in the later rounds.

Trade a 3rd or 4th rounder for Justin Fields
Draft Brock Bowers with the 1st pick and then address LT in the 2nd.

Don’t disagree with that at all. Stafford is not going to retire until at least 2025, so grabbing an absolute stud TE and LT would be cool.

Bowers is a game changer and would open this offense up big time. he is extremely tough to guard and is a decent blocker as well. This is all predicated on them getting Fields. Not a huge fan of Mac Jones but I think he will be on the block too and you could get him for even a later pick. This is all predicated on them getting Fields. Not a huge fan of Mac Jones but I think he will be on the block too and you could get him for even a later pick.
