I will say it again man is it tough to bet the NFL. Coming from a regular light playing gambler I will stick to Saturdays and college football.
The NFL is just too damn hard. Week in and week out there is just too much inconsistency IMO.

Re: Don't Bet the NFL
A direct consequence of Free Agency over the years along with the salary cap. The only dynasty type teams in this era have been the Patriots and Chiefs. And then the Packers and Saints,49ers had several playoff years. Other than that.. the NFL got what they wanted. It can be any teams year.
The players deserved the right to FA... But as wealthy as the league is... I think the cap should be 25% higher than it always has been to give teams and fans a better shot at achieving a dynasty and enjoy their favorite players. In the least... Providing cap bonus to any team paying for a franchise QB and their ridiculous salaries. How are you suppose to build a complete team with those kinds of contracts? You better hit on the draft is all I can say. The NFL isn't as bad and unpredictable in that regard as Baseball is.. But it's still a crapshoot as bad as betting on the games that you are talking about.
Re: Don't Bet the NFL
Definitely don’t bet on Josh Allen and the Bills. Lots of hype for a turnover machine.

Re: Don't Bet the NFL
They are great points about riches and salary cap, but, I don't think raising the cap would matter. That would only give the agents more of an allowance for their QBs. Raise the cap 25% and that money goes directly to the quarterbacks. Now teams are right back where they started from. Once the QB contracts reached ridiculous, it became a never ending problem. When Daniel Jones gets 40 mil per year, you know it's broken beyond repair.CierraRam wrote: ↑November 14th, 2023, 9:23 amA direct consequence of Free Agency over the years along with the salary cap. Re: Don't Bet the NFL
As I mentioned, the only other possibility is a cap rebate system that teams get for contracting one of these QBs that is set up to only be used for the rest of the roster.Ramsfan08ny wrote: ↑November 14th, 2023, 10:13 amThey are great points about riches and salary cap, but, I don't think raising the cap would matter. Re: Don't Bet the NFL
all solid points about the inconsistencies of the NFL. But it is crazy some of these scores. The 49ers losing those games, KC losing to Denver, Buffalo losing to many teams. Last nights game was nuts. Bills -7.5 favorite and don't even win.CierraRam wrote: ↑November 14th, 2023, 10:18 amAs I mentioned, the only other possibility is a cap rebate system that teams get for contracting one of these QBs that is set up to only be used for the rest of the roster.Ramsfan08ny wrote: ↑November 14th, 2023, 10:13 am

Not sure what the reasons are but it has been one crazy year so far.

Re: Don't Bet the NFL
Buffalo just isn't a great team anymore and Josh Allen hasn't been playing like years past to boot. Their window closed rapidly. That Von Miller contract was ridiculous last season and they are saddled with it. No way in hell I give him that contract.. this isn't baseball where 33 year olds are still in their primeocram23 wrote: ↑November 14th, 2023, 10:22 amall solid points about the inconsistencies of the NFL. This team was set to win and win now. The past few years, many (including yours truly) thought this team would finally get over the hump and make a Super Bowl or maybe even WIN one.
NOPE.
They have gone in reverse.
When your payrolls look like this, you are all in. I'm stoked we got rid of Von when we did. Could imagine this salary cap hanging over our heads for 2024? Also, they are very top heavy im noticing

Im telling you... there is a reason his name rhymes with Notedoom...GlendoraRam wrote: ↑November 14th, 2023, 4:07 pm Rams seem to let some players walk at the right time…. Except for Noteboom.
He is our DOOM. Ugh. Makes me sick to what we signed him for.
I know Cornell is going to jump in here and state we had to sign him at the time we did, and he is most likely right... but gosh damn it, this guy has been a thorn in my foot for way too long.
Just need to cut the guy before end of season.

Don’t forget about OBJ. Up until recently, he has done very little. Seems like we cut bait at the right time?

Yep, given his injury history, it’s 50/50 he’ll finish the season without going in IRRams fan since 1973 wrote: ↑November 14th, 2023, 5:07 pm Don’t forget about OBJ. Up until recently, he has done very little. Seems like we cut bait at the right time?

Re: Don't Bet the NFL
The rams are very good in letting players walk at the right time . A lot of players released started to decline right away ( JJ etc ) , but unfortunately the rams are also masters of signing or re-signing players ( with monsters contracts ) right before they become useless .GlendoraRam wrote: ↑November 14th, 2023, 4:07 pm Rams seem to let some players walk at the right time….
